A relaxed summer wedding at The Ravenswood, West Sussex

I first met Harry and Georgina at a wedding fair, so it was a real pleasure to finally photograph their wedding last week at The Ravenswood. 

Their original plans had to change, and in the meantime they welcomed their little girl, Scarlett. So when the wedding day finally arrived, it felt even more special. 

With around 70 friends and family there to celebrate with them, it was a lovely, relaxed day with plenty of laughter and some great moments. 

From rain to sunshine

The morning started with a bit of rain, so there was a bit of uncertainty about whether the outdoor ceremony would go ahead. The staff are really good at the venue and Georgia kept us up to date with the plans. 

Thankfully the weather decided to start behaving and the sun broke out, and they were able to get married outside. 

A relaxed Ravenswood wedding

​With their friends and family gathered around them, Harry and Georgina said their vows in the sunshine.

Scarlett wasn't having the easiest day herself and was a little grizzly, so unfortunately I didn't manage to get as many photographs of her as I would have liked. That's weddings though - little people don't always follow the photography schedule. 

The important thing is that bride and groom managed to relax and I managed to capture some beautiful photos. 

The boys, the cigars and a couple of familiar faces 

One of the photographs Harry was set on was one with his boys, he took a trip especially down to Brighton to get some Cuban cigars. 

​It's exactly the sort of photo I love to capture - completely unforced and a bit of fun. 

​There was an also a lovely surprise for me during the day. I spotted Hannah and Steve, a couple whose wedding I'd previously photographed at Findon Manor. 

It's always a great feeling bumping into previous couples at other weddings, and it was lovely having a catch up and see them again. We even had time to capture some couple photos.

There's so many great places to photograph at this venue and now there's a swing which adds even more but I didn't want to take them away from the guests for too long, so I kept it relaxed and relatively short. 

Harry and Georgina spent time with their friends and family whilst I went around taking shots of the wedding breakfast tables and candid shots of loved ones. Everywhere I turned there were little things that made the day extra special, like them taking a Frank Sinatra Whiskey shot after the kiss, a wedding day post detailing the day, lawn games, an area dedicated to loved ones that couldn't make it to the wedding and photos tied around the swing tree some of which were my engagement shoot photos! 

​Then it was time for food, Harry and Georgina kindly supplied me a meal which was Halloumi and vegetable skewers on a basil risotto which was really nice and a huge portion!!

Then finishing the day off was speeches which Harry's stag do antics came up bet he wish they hadn't, cake cutting and some very energetic dancing. 


Getting married at The Ravenswood?

I met Harry and Georgina recently in Brighton for their pre-wedding consultation and we practiced some shots. Lovely day and another lovely couple and they brought along beautiful Scarlett too. Harry's last meal would be a cheesy potato and tinned tomato bake, I'd never heard of it but apparently it was a war time thing and Georgina has a massive crush on David Tennant. Fair enough guys :-) Can't wait to see you at your wedding at the Ravenswood.

Last year saw our busiest year yet so we haven't blogged for a while but we are still here and taking bookings for 2025/6. What a lovely wedding James & Emma's was and you couldn't have asked for nicer weather. I've never done a wedding at South Lodge but what a lovely venue especially nice with the swing chair and the long grass for golden hour. 

Next up, we met with the lovely James & Emma who had their Engagement Shoot at Tilgate Park. Thankfully the weather held off and we got them used to being in front of the camera. 

Is it just me or is this year flying by.... In a couple of weeks we've got Chloe and Zoe getting married at Leatherhead Registry Office. We met them at Tilgate Wedding Fair back in 2021 and their time is nearly upon us. Here's some photos from their engagement shoot back in March when they were expecting.

The Ravenswood is a beautiful wedding venue in East Grinstead but unfortunately you can't always guarantee the weather in August. Right in the middle of our heatwave last year was a day it decided to not only pour with rain but full on thunder and lightning too!! So I had 15 mins to get out into the grounds and take some photos and they are really lovely grounds that can't be wasted. Thank you Andy and Stacy and I'll be back at the Ravenswood again soon hopefully with better weather 😊
